The position of the Release to Work (RTW) Broker is the principal liaison role for managing RTW placements and monitoring these placements at the site level. The RTW Broker will identify suitable community work placements and collaborate with management to develop or re-establish work skills and habits. You will work proactively with prison leadership and staff to optimize RTW placements, involving extensive networking with community groups, businesses, and employers.
This role is based at the Regional Admin Building in Trentham and involves work across Rimutaka and Arohata Prisons, with a pool car available for travel.
Your ability to lead and influence is crucial as you liaise with employers and the prison to enforce release conditions and monitor work placements to resolve issues and meet plans.
To succeed, you should have strong negotiation skills, a good understanding of the local area and employment challenges. The ideal candidate will:
- Demonstrate knowledge of labour market trends and ability to match job specifications to management requirements
- Be resilient and solutions-focused
- Maintain strong relationships with a variety of employers, including government and commercial sectors
- Possess excellent decision-making, judgment, and risk analysis skills
- Show strong planning, organizational, and marketing abilities
- Communicate effectively at all levels, both orally and in writing
Your previous work history should demonstrate commercial acumen and the ability to influence and work successfully with diverse stakeholders.
A full New Zealand driver’s license is essential, as travel within the area using a Department vehicle is required.
Applicants must have the legal right to work in New Zealand. Priority will be given to those who already hold this right, and visa support may not be available.
The salary range is $68,456 - $88,648, with salary progression based on anniversaries. Appointment and remuneration will reflect relevant skills and experience.
