Provide high-quality healthcare to our rural community, managing a broad patient mix with trauma, medical, and minor presentations. The community is diverse, with high deprivation levels and many living in rural and remote areas, adding complexity and making the work rewarding. Opportunities to develop and expand your skills within a community and rural hospital setting. Potential to work in the emergency department, medical ward, and fracture clinic. Our team collaborates to make a positive difference to patients, communities, and each other. Deliver proficient preventive, therapeutic, and diagnostic interventions. Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedural skills proficiently. Seek appropriate consultation from tertiary hospital professionals within your expertise. Build rapport, trust, and ethical relationships with patients and families. Extract and synthesize relevant information from patients, families, and other professionals. Tokoroa hospital sees approx. 14,000 presentations annually through its emergency department, with a 17-bed inpatient ward. On-site radiology and laboratory services are available during the day and on call 24/7. An up-to-date point of care ultrasound is available in the emergency department, with opportunities to learn. We also support community palliative care, primary care clinics, and specialist visits from Waikato hospital. The site includes a primary birthing unit managed by midwives, with collaborative relationships with local primary health providers and community organizations. About Tokoroa Tokoroa offers outdoor recreation and Māori heritage, with bush walks, lakes, and scenic reserves. Explore historic sites like Pokaiwhenua and Hatupatu rock.
