We're seeking more passionate individuals to join our team of volunteers working at Ashburton Museum in our Gallery and Heritage Centre.

Volunteers assist our staff to ensure we can offer the highest quality service to our visitors, care for our collections, and maintain fresh, exciting exhibits.

Typical Volunteer Roles Include:

Front of House
Ensuring all customers of all ages are greeted in a genuinely friendly and courteous manner.
Projecting a positive public image ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction when answering enquiries.
Ensure all feedback is acknowledged with respect and any concerns referred to your supervisor.
Maintain an accurate tally of visitor numbers.
Ensure telephone queries are answered in a timely manner.
Accurately process and record transactions and sales, ensuring cash and EFTPOS payments are correct and accounted for in relation to the total till balance.
Monitor security camera images and inform your supervisor of any concerns.
Undertake administrative tasks, such as data entry, as arranged by Museum staff.
Undertake training as required in Museum or Customer Service programmes.
Follow processes for items offered for donation to the collection.
Collections
Work on defined projects, to document, house and assist staff with collection management.
Prior experience and a willingness to undertake training will be an advantage.
Exhibitions, Public Programmes or Education
These roles are generally undertaken by paid staff. If you have experience or interest, please outline this on your application.
Interns
Ashburton Museum welcomes interns that are undertaking museum studies, have recently graduated, or are considering study in museum, curatorial or related disciplines.
A variety of entry-intermediate level projects are available for short or mid-term intern work. Please note this on your application, detailing your area of interest.
