These roll growth positions are scheduled to start as follows: Position 1: Term 2, Week 6 (Starts Monday, 25 May 2026)Position 2: Term 3, Week 6 (Starts Monday, 24 August 2026, or earlier by negotiation)The successful applicants will be experts in the "first year at school," possessing a deep understanding of transition‐to‐school practices and the ability to create a nurturing, high‐trust learning environment.
BSLA or trained in structured literacy approaches is an advantage.
Essential criteria for appointment: Registration requirements: Applicants must hold a current New Zealand Teacher Registration and a valid Practising Certificate issued by the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand.
Curriculum expertise: A deep, proven understanding of the New Zealand Curriculum and significant experience in enacting its progressions within a New Zealand school context are essential.
Cultural competency: You will demonstrate a strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi partnership and be proficient in integrating te reo Māori and tikanga Māori into daily classroom practice, reflecting the 2026 Standards for the Teaching Profession.
Legal status: Applicants must have the legal right to work in New Zealand at the time of application.
Please note: Due to the specific roll‐growth nature of these transition classes, these positions are not suitable for Beginning Teachers (PRTs).
