Are you a passionate, hands-on chef with café flair who’s ready for your next challenge? We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Chef Manager to lead our Cater Plus café located within the Countdown Wiri Distribution Centre.
We are looking for a dynamic Chef Manager with strong cabinet food expertise to manage the kitchen and café operations. This is a hands-on role where you’ll be actively involved in menu creation, food preparation, cooking, and beautifully presenting fresh, modern cabinet offerings—think vibrant salads, wraps, paninis, contemporary sandwiches, and vegetarian options.
Your organisational, communication, and customer service skills will ensure smooth day-to-day operations and a consistently great experience for our customers. Creativity, an eye for presentation, and the ability to manage food costs within budget will be key to your success.
To be successful in this role, you’ll bring:
•A minimum of 3 years’ relevant chef experience
• Strong culinary skills across a variety of cuisines
• Demonstrated cabinet food preparation and presentation ability
• Experience monitoring food quality at all stages
• Confidence creating menus for varied dietary needs
• Capability to cater for occasional in-house functions
• Sound understanding of food and labour cost control
• Knowledge of NZ Food Safety and Food Control Plan requirements
• A clean, tidy, and safety-focused working style
• Great communication skills and moderate computer literacy
• A flexible, positive, can-do attitude
