Discover a career with purpose at MBIESenior Offshore Renewable Energy Advisor (Fixed-term)Date: 7 Feb 2025 Location: Wellington, NZ, 6011 Be part of the transition to a clean energy future for New Zealand Lead the operational development of a new offshore renewable energy regime Fixed-term opportunity until August 2025, Wellington based location Salary range: $110,098- $138,028 (pro-rated) plus kiwisaver The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment is seeking a senior renewable energy and/or regulatory specialist to be the lead advisor on a new offshore renewable energy regime for New Zealand. Offshore renewable energy includes wind, solar, wave and other natural sources of renewable energy generation, located in offshore areas around the motu. If you are a self-starter, a team player, can quickly gain respect in your working and stakeholder relationships, and have significant industry, commercial or regulatory experience and leadership in the renewable energy sector (or similar), then we would like to hear from you. An understanding of te ao Māori would be an advantage. We offer a supportive team culture, regulatory expertise and know-how, and wrap-around services and functions to aid the role. We are open to flexible working arrangements for the right candidate, including part-time and/or being based outside of Wellington. Skills and Experience Required A good understanding of the offshore renewable energy sector (or similar) is desirable. Experience in a regulatory role in the offshore renewable energy sector (or similar) is desirable. Understanding of the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the role of the Crown in partnering with Māori. Experience working on technically and/or politically and/or legally complex projects. Ability to integrate the ‘big picture’ (strategic and/or long term) with day-to-day operational processes. Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills, with the ability to integrate and balance statutory and specialist technical information.
