About the role:
As our Payroll Administrator, you’ll provide essential support to our Payroll Specialists to help deliver smooth, accurate weekly pay cycles for Foodstuffs South Island and our member stores.
You’ll work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment where precision matters and learning is encouraged. With structured training and support, you’ll grow your understanding of payroll systems, legislation, and best practice. This role has become available due to an internal promotion, reflecting the development opportunities available within the team.
You’ll join a close-knit group of nine and report to the Payroll Manager. The team is collaborative, focused, and supportive – professional in delivery, relaxed in culture.
What you’ll do:
Entering and maintaining payroll data such as new hires, changes, and terminations
Supporting the payroll cycle through documentation tasks – checking, scanning, and filing
Building knowledge of payroll systems, processes, and legislation
About you:
You’ll have some administration experience and be keen to deepen your knowledge and build a career in payroll. You’ll be comfortable working within defined processes and consistently deliver accurate, high-quality work. Dependable and detail-conscious, you’ll take ownership of your responsibilities and enjoy supporting a team committed to excellence.
Ideally, you’ll also bring:
Experience in administration or data entry, ideally in a structured or high-volume setting
A strong interest in payroll and employment compliance
Accuracy, consistency, and a methodical approach to task management
Confidence working with systems and a fast, accurate typing style
A calm and steady approach – able to work to tight deadlines without compromising on quality
A growth mindset, with a commitment to learning and development
