About the Role We are seeking a dedicated Payroll Specialist for a fixed-term contract to support our payroll team by overseeing senior payroll functions.
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring all district employees are paid accurately and on time, in line with legislation, contractual requirements, policies, and procedures.
You will act as a subject matter expert in payroll processes, providing guidance, support, and training to junior team members while upholding best practices.
Additionally, you will contribute to the delivery of the district's vision, ensuring compliance and efficiency in payroll operations.
About the Team/Service/ Location This Payroll Specialist position is based at Hawke's Bay Fallen Soldiers Memorial Hospital and operates within a dedicated team responsible for ensuring the district's payroll function runs smoothly and efficiently.
You will work Monday to Friday on a fixed-term contract until 31st December 2025, contributing to a team that is collaborative, detail-oriented, and committed to meeting the hospital's payroll requirements.

About you You have at least two years of payroll experience and a strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and compliance in all payroll processes.
You can work independently, effectively prioritise weekly pay runs, and respond promptly to employee payroll inquiries.
Your ability to problem-solve and manage workflows makes you a valuable asset to the team.
