Position Overview

A postdoctoral position is available in Dr. Tesfaigzi's lab within the Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Department of Medicine at Mass General Brigham, Harvard Medical School. The successful candidate will join our NIH-funded research group to study innate immune mechanisms of the airway epithelium, focusing on chronic lung diseases such as COPD, asthma, and IPF. The primary research involves investigating genetic loci and genes that initiate lung inflammation, with an emphasis on environmental pollutants' effects on lung function.

Responsibilities

  1. Design and execute cell and molecular biology studies.
  2. Manage and improve animal models of chronic lung diseases.
  3. Perform cell lineage tracing and analyze human samples.
  4. Conduct independent research, make methodological decisions, and analyze data.
  5. Develop cellular assays, interpret complex data, and document findings.
  6. Write and review animal protocols.
  7. Collaborate with other scientists and investigators.
  8. Manage laboratory equipment and resources.
  9. Publish results and present at scientific meetings.
  10. Write research proposals and develop scientific networks.
  11. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • MD or Ph D in Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, or related fields, with biomedical research experience.
  • Expertise in gene targeting, protein analysis, molecular biology, and immunology techniques.
  • Experience with in vivo CRISPR and single-cell RNA sequencing.
  • Proficiency in molecular biology techniques such as Western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunoprecipitation.
  • Experience with mouse models of disease.
  • Ability to develop and conduct specific scientific assays.
  • Knowledge of virology and flow cytometry is advantageous.
  • Independence, excellent communication skills, and organizational abilities.
  • Familiarity with clinical research protocols and data analysis, including RNA sequencing.
