About us The PGF Services nationwide team consists of qualified counsellors providing free, professional and confidential counselling services for both gamblers and others affected by gambling and a dedicated public health team working on harmful gambling issues in the community using a health promotion approach.
Harmful gambling is a significant social issue in New Zealand and at PGF Services, we work with communities, district and city councils, gambling providers and policy makers to support the change necessary to reduce gambling harm.
About the role This permanent Kaihaumanu Matatini/Practitioner role is based in Kirikiriroa/Hamilton and is full time (1.0 FTE).
You will participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team to provide clinical care and case management to individuals, whānau/families and affected others experiencing gambling harm and other co-existing conditions such as mental health, drug and alcohol use and wellbeing.
The role offers lots of variety, from providing whānau support services, to raising awareness of gambling harm through education and community engagement in the Hamilton region.
This role will involve after hour appointments to meet the needs of our Tāngata Whaiora.
Your experience as an addiction's practitioner, social worker, corrections, justice or mental health worker will be beneficial, however we don't require you to have experience working with gambling harm treatment.
The successful candidate will have:3+ years of clinical experience A qualification in a relevant field such as social work, mental health, counselling and/or addiction at Level 7 A membership to a governing body such as Dapaanz, NZ Psychological Society, Social Work Registration Board, NZAC or equivalent Experience in risk management and be able to work with a high degree of autonomy Experience with group facilitation would be desirable for this position The ability to work cross‐culturally and engage with diverse communities Effective and respectful communication skills A strong work ethic and high standards of record keeping Competence in data entry and Microsoft 365 programmes (desirable) A full and clean driver's license A strong understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in practice Knowledge of gambling harm is a bonus What we offer Five weeks annual leave One day of Birthday leave Competitive salary based on skills and experience Career development and training opportunities Monthly external supervision Use of company vehicle for work purposes We are committed to delivering a mana enhancing service and the health, safety and wellbeing of all staff is important to us.
