About the Role This is an exciting opportunity to lead and support significant strategies, projects, and programmes that enable the Department to work towards being an honourable Treaty partner.
The position will be focused on: Supporting the Kaihautū and the Deputy Director-General with guidance development, planning and implementation across the organisation.
Recommending and supporting innovative improvements for strategy and work programmes tailored to the Department's strategic outcome of being an honourable Treaty partner.
Preparing papers for the Senior Leadership Team, Treaty Oversight Group and the Minister.
Supporting significant leadership meetings, both internally and externally with Treaty partners and stakeholders.
Skills and Experience If you have the following attributes, we are keen to hear from you: A strong understanding of the impact of DOC and the wider public sector/government on the Māori Crown relationships, and the obligations of the crown under the Treaty of Waitangi.
Excellent relationship skills with proven experience working with a wide range of people, including senior leadership and Ministers, and successfully influencing organisational change.
Experience leading guidance development, planning and implementation across complex organisations.
Successful experience introducing and integrating te ao Māori into an organisation.
Excellent writing and presentation skills, including experience writing papers and presenting to senior leadership and Ministers.
Experience working within government policy/legislation would be advantageous.

The salary range for this position is $108,617 - $137,645 with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.
