The Role
We are seeking a Procurement Specialist to oversee daily purchasing activities across various indirect categories for our manufacturing plants.
As a Procurement Specialist, you will provide support to the procurement team and key stakeholders across categories such as chemical and consumable goods, corporate services, and capital expenditures.
Your role will focus on ensuring cost-effective procurement, managing supplier relationships, and improving operational efficiency. Collaboration with business units to identify opportunities and risks will be essential.
Ideal candidates are analytical, outcome-oriented, adaptable communicators, and creative problem-solvers.
Main Responsibilities include:
Collaborate with category managers and project teams, representing Procurement on specific projects.
Lead cost-saving initiatives, including contract renewal and negotiation to enhance efficiency and value.
Ensure alignment with business objectives through commercial and competitive insights, focusing on cost-effectiveness, risk mitigation, and value creation.
Strengthen supplier relationships and develop evaluation metrics.
Identify strategic issues related to procurement and contracts, and their impact on the business.
This position is based at our Christchurch site in Dunsandel, with some flexibility to work in the city center. Remote work is not available.
Skills and Experience
Applicants should have a proven track record in managing indirect procurement, with strong relationship-building skills. Experience in purchasing, strategic sourcing, and negotiations is preferred, demonstrating ability to achieve cost savings and manage tender processes.
Experience across the entire procurement lifecycle.
Success in strategic procurement planning and execution.
Experience in dairy, manufacturing, or FMCG sectors is preferred.
Contract drafting and negotiation skills are essential.
Strong listening skills to assess supplier strengths and weaknesses.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a multitasking environment.
