The Consulting Services team provides project negotiation, facilitation, and coordination services across various academic disciplines, supporting researchers and departments involved in consultancy and service work. The Opportunity: We are seeking a collaborative Project Manager to join our motivated and successful Consulting Services team. Reporting to the Head of Consulting Services, the Project Manager will coordinate and oversee a portfolio of academic consultancy and technical service projects from inquiry to contract negotiation and completion, ensuring successful delivery and customer satisfaction. The role requires the ability to quickly understand a wide range of intellectual concepts across the university’s research areas. Key responsibilities include: Negotiating contracts—drafting from templates or editing client contracts, consulting legal advice when necessary. Coordinating diverse projects, liaising with researchers, departments, and external clients to agree on scope, timelines, and budgets, and ensuring successful delivery. Handling inquiries from researchers and clients, maintaining relationships with researchers undertaking consultancy. Collaborating with Operations and Finance support colleagues to ensure projects comply with policies and are properly managed. Managing project payments, invoicing, and timely payment distribution. Contributing to marketing and business development initiatives, including promoting services at internal events, once experienced in the role. About you: The ideal candidate is a team player with strong administrative skills, familiarity with contracts and legal language, and the ability to grasp new concepts quickly. A degree is desirable but not essential; experience in contract negotiation is advantageous. You should demonstrate: Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Experience in contract negotiation and document markup. Persistence and tenacity in closing deals and achieving project goals. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Diplomacy and tact in managing relationships.
