The Registered Nurse (RN) working in the adult forensic inpatient units will have a desire to develop in an area of nursing; will have the ability to work using a team nursing approach, within the wider Multidisciplinary Team (MDT), demonstrate values consistent with those of the MHAID Services and will be committed to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi.
The Team Nursing approach commits to provide person / family centred care, using current evidence to assist people to achieve their optimum health. It considers the nursing skill (PDRP) level and staff mix with Registered Nurses (RN) and Mental Health Support Workers (MHSW) working together as part of the team. Mō tō mātou rōpū – About our team
Purehurehu is a male secure facility and Rangipapa is a male/female secure facility – both units provide treatment, assessment and rehabilitation for tangata whaiora/consumers who are required to undergo psychiatric assessment prior to a court hearing and also for consumers committed to a mental health facility under the Criminal Procedure (Mentally Impaired Persons) Act 2003 or Mental Health (Compulsory Assessment and Treatment) Act 1992.
