* Looking for that new Leadership role in Surveillance? As Chief Customs Officer (CCO) of the Surveillance team, you'll lead NZ Customs' team across operations and at a strategic level within Operations Support.

The CCO is responsible for having oversight of the Surveillance unit, ensuring delivery of service to key stakeholders and being a lead contributor in the building of the future direction of the work area.

The Surveillance team supports drugs, fraud, and child exploitation investigations and is utilised by Intelligence Branch in the initiation of proactive investigations.

Mo tenei turanga mahi | About this role… The position requires extensive knowledge and experience in the Surveillance field as well as effective and confident decision making, and the ability to build and maintain the relationships required to achieve strategic objectives.

You'll use your experience as a people leader to provide clear leadership, ensuring teams have the skills and knowledge to deliver the outcomes required.

Building and enhancing effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders is important, including other border management agencies, with a view to improving service quality.

This role is Auckland based.

The salary for this role is $100,653 to $127,610 the mid-point for this role is $116,023 (depending on your experience) with an allowance of $15,640 Ko wai koe | About you… You will have experience in operational planning as well as project management.

You will have experience in managing a work area that is highly specialised and technical in nature.

You will be a leader who nurtures an environment that allows for a successful and inclusive team culture where everyone has a voice, and which reflects the values and behaviours expected from Customs.

Background checks and clearances You will need to be able to obtain a Top Secret level national security clearance.

To achieve Top Secret clearance, you must be a New Zealand citizen or a permanent resident who has resided in New Zealand, Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom or the United States continuously for the last 10 years.

Already having Top Secret clearance is a benefit, but not a requirement.
