He Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role
The Tauranga Acute Care Team (Crisis Team) provides accessible and responsive specialist secondary Mental Health and Addiction Services for the Bay of Plenty community that is culturally appropriate and inclusive.

This role requires the application of core care delivery functions, as well as providing opportunity for application of specialised knowledge and skills in the context of a multi-professional team. The crisis team supports clients and their whānau suffering from acute mental health crisis/distress, through means of acute assessment, brief follow-up, connection with community services, and initiation/discussion of treatment to make a plan of a pathway forward once the crisis has passed.

You will be part of a diverse team of Health Professionals including Nurses, Social Workers, and Occupational Therapists and a wider experienced and very supportive team.

We are looking for a team player, but also someone who is comfortable working autonomously. You will have sound acute assessment skills, be able to make decisions quickly with the patient, staff, and community safety at the forefront of all decisions made.

You will be flexible with your thinking as well as with your ability to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays. We are looking for someone with an open mind who is positive, passionate, and has a desire to learn and grow. It is preferable that you have a minimum of 5 years' experience in the Mental Health sector.

This is a permanent position; however, there is flexibility in the FTE and we would be interested to hear from candidates who are looking for part-time hours, a fixed-term contract, or a secondment from another Hauora a Toi mental health team.
