About the Role - Kōrero mō te Tūranga
We're looking for two talented Senior Advisers to join our high-performing Talent Advisory team at the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI). If you're an experienced recruiter who enjoys influencing, coaching, and shaping better hiring across a large and diverse organisation, this is your opportunity to make a real impact.
As a Senior Adviser, you'll work closely with hiring leaders, support meaningful organisational decisions, and help evolve how we attract and select great people at MPI. You'll also play an important leadership role within the team, whether that's mentoring advisers, leading improvement initiatives, or (in one of the roles) providing day-to-day support to our Talent Coordinator.
Both positions are for people who are passionate about recruitment and always looking at making things better.
As a Senior Adviser, you will:
Act as a trusted talent advisor to leaders, providing smart, strategic recruitment advice
Lead improvement initiatives that enhance how we hire and deliver a great experience for our candidates and hiring managers
Coach, mentor, and uplift capability across the team and wider organisation
Manage complex recruitment portfolios with confidence and clarity
Use market insights and data to support strong, equitable hiring decisions
For one of the Senior Advisor roles, lead, develop and support our Talent Coordinator
About You - Mōu
You'll bring strong end-to-end recruitment experience, paired with the confidence to lead projects and improvements that make a difference. We value someone who is curious, willing to think differently and work collaboratively with others. You're someone who:
Has 3–5+ years of recruitment experience (agency and/or internal recruitment)
Enjoys improvement work and has led (or contributed to) projects, process changes, or new initiatives
Is confident coaching, influencing, and guiding stakeholders
Builds trusted relationships and communicates with clarity
Is organised, proactive, and comfortable balancing strategic work with hands-on delivery
(For one role) Has experience leading/mentoring people, or is ready for that step
About the Team - Mō tō mātou Rōpū
You'll join a supportive, fun, and collaborative Talent Advisory team of Coordinators, Advisers, Senior Advisers, and specialist roles based in Wellington. We take pride in improving what we do, sharing insights, and backing each other to grow as a team. As a Senior Adviser, you'll have a meaningful voice in shaping our service and leading the improvements that move us forward.
