The Senior Analyst (Operational Policy) provides policy advice across the organisation.

You will hold the pen on drafting new policy and updating existing policy relating to Treaty settlement negotiations and Takutai Moana.

You'll also be responsible for advising negotiations and engagement teams on teams on complex and novel issues and providing secondary policy advice on Maori rights and interests for other agencies.

The Senior Analyst may work on a variety of subject areas including mandating, overlapping interests, claimant funding, harbours, and memorialised land.

You'll also work as part of a supportive team, coaching and mentoring junior team members and providing quality assurance across the team.

The Senior Analyst is part of the Operational Policy team and works closely with the Strategic Policy and Legal teams to support projects and advice across government as required.

This is an exciting opportunity to the end of February 2025 to cover leave.

Have experience developing and analysing policy.

Be a strong writer with the ability to take initiative.

Be comfortable engaging with hapu and iwi Maori.

Be committed to coaching and mentoring junior team members and contributing to the direction of the team.

Bring an understanding of, and commitment to continued learning about tikanga and te reo Maori.

Have a good understanding of the machinery of government and working in the public sector.

Te Hapai o Strategy, Policy, and Legal provides policy and legal advice to Te Arawhiti business groups, advises the government on Treaty rights and interests and the Maori Crown relationship, and supports the Executive Leadership Team on organisational strategy.

This role is part of the Operational Policy team, with a focus on supporting Treaty settlement and Takutai Moana policy.

You will also work across projects lead by the strategic policy team and the legal team.

The remuneration band for this role is $110,766 to $154,680.
