Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Specialist (Consultant) in Intensive Care Medicine, located in Whangarei. The Specialist will be responsible for providing high-quality intensive care services, including assessing, diagnosing, and managing patients within the ICU. The role involves working closely with multidisciplinary teams, contributing to policy development, and participating in quality improvement initiatives. The Specialist will also be responsible for teaching and supervising junior medical staff and participating in on-call rosters.
Qualifications
Medical degree and specialization in Intensive Care Medicine
Consultants with dual specilties welcome (Med/ED/Anaesthesia)
Vocational registration in ICM or willingness to obtain it essential
CICM fellowship or commitment to obtaining fellowship desirable
Knowledge and experience in patient assessment, diagnosis, and management in an ICU setting
Skills in multidisciplinary team collaboration and effective communication
Understanding of healthcare policy development and quality improvement processes
Experience in teaching and supervision of junior medical staff
Ability to work within the framework of the Treaty of Waitangi
Commitment to the values of People First, Respect, Caring, Communication, and Excellence
Eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
