Systems Engineer Wellington or Auckland based Working in an Agile environment we are continuing our journey and are actively promoting agility right throughout the Ministry of Social Development. We have a fantastic opportunity in either our Wellington or Auckland office, for experienced System Engineers looking for a permanent role. To enable the Ministry to better help New Zealanders who need our support, we are experiencing rapid growth in our IT area to ensure solutions can be delivered to our front line and our clients quickly. We have a wide variety of work in a fast-paced environment, and exciting opportunities to be a motivational force that empowers our teams to meet delivery goals and increase product capabilities and services to our clients. You will need substantial experience in Linux Systems Administration, preferably in large scale environments, and/or experience with infrastructure including SAN arrays and fabrics, enclosures, blades and a range of backup devices. What we are looking for This transformational environment can be both dynamic and challenging, therefore we are looking for highly skilled professionals who Thrives in the fast-paced, changing nature of our work Wholeheartedly embraces the Agile way of working and model the right behaviour for your peers and colleagues Can deliver requirements to include users and user rationale balanced against business outcomes Has a pragmatic approach to the task at hand and can collaborate and deliver continuous improvement Has experience coaching and mentoring other Systems Engineers Your responsibilities within the roles will be a mix of Doing your part to configure and run the Ministry's centralised enterprise Linux systems, including the integration and administration of HP SANs Working with rich and varied set of technologies with virtual server configurations Working with virtualisation technologies supporting Red Hat operating systems Working closely with wider operations groups, including in-house Middleware and Database administrators, and our environments teams, incident, problem and change management, as well as external vendors and service providers Maintaining policies and standards within the managed environment Working closely with other Systems Engineers providing coaching and mentoring where needed: Building and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships After-hours on-call and scheduled work If you have previous experience in the any of following areas, please highlight this in your application VMware Red Hat Enterprise Logical Volume Managers in multiple platforms (Linux, Windows, HPUX and Solaris) 3PAR Networking/SAN Backup and recovery Monitoring and integration knowledge, for example: Checkmk, HPE IRS, HPE One View HPE enclosures and blades Configuration Management tools, for example: Satellite, Puppet Automation tools, for example: Ansible, Jenkins Delivery platforms, for example: Docker Deploying and supporting cloud-based service offerings Provisioning environments We will start shortlisting process prior to role closing.
