Position Summary
Offering three levels within the surgical technologist career ladder, this role is vital in the operating room. The Surgical Tech is responsible for preparing and maintaining the operating room environment and assisting with peri-operative patient care. Collaboration with surgeons and nurses ensures the smooth and efficient functioning of the OR. Education and Experience Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program (see substitution options below)
- Current Surgical Technologist Certification required within one year of graduation or if employed as a surgical technologist in a surgical facility on or before July 1, 2013, or if completed military or U. S. Public Health Service training
- Graduates without certification have one year from graduation to obtain it
- Minimum of two (2) years' experience as a surgical technologist in an acute care setting required
Preferred Experience
- Associate degree preferred
- Four (4) years' experience as a Surgical Technologist in an acute care setting preferred
- Committee and leadership experience preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
