Ko Taku Reo - Deaf Education New Zealand Hawke's Bay Resource teacher of the Deaf – Wairoa Part time, Permanent, FTTE up to: 0.6 Primary and intermediate (Years 1–8) / kura tuatahi, Resource teacher English, Health and physical education, Learning languages, Mathematics and statistics, Science, Social sciences, Technology, Te reo Māori, The arts SDA + other allowances related to the special nature of our school We are seeking an engaging, innovative person who has strong communication skills and is a collaborative team player as these skills will be needed in all you do. You will be required to travel to mainstream schools, Kura Kaupapa Māori/Mana Māori early childhood/kōhanga reo to work closely with DHH students, whānau and school staff/teams to support learners in both English and te reo Māori. This is a permanent, part-time (0.6 FTE) role. Engaging within your assigned caseload with related record keeping and liaison with families and whānau to assist with student participation and success in their education and life outcomes. Proven best practice and experience working with Deaf children and/or working with mainstream children. Qualified teacher of the Deaf or an experienced NZ registered teacher. Use of own car with mileage reimbursed (with conditions). Depending on expected weekly mileage a lease car may be provided for your work travel. Must reside within easy access to the advertised region and be willing to travel within a designated caseload. You will have existing skills, or demonstrate a willingness to develop proficiency, in New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) and listening and spoken language practices for DHH learners.
