Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders.
About the Role

The Allied Health Assistant (AHA) role is based mostly on our inpatient wards at Kenepuru Hospital, with some time spent on home visits and a smaller portion of time spent in the outpatient and hydrotherapy setting.
In the ward setting, you will support patients in their recovery to get back to daily activities and routines. You will provide support to Allied Health Professionals to carry out delegated tasks such as physically assisting with patient rehabilitation sessions, practicing daily living and rehabilitation tasks, issuing equipment, facilitating group classes, as well as being responsible for some administration tasks.
The ideal candidate will be willing to learn, be a great team player, and enjoy working with a wide range of people, including older adults, people with neurological conditions including amputations, and people with orthopaedic injuries. You will be well supported by a friendly and experienced team.
About the Team / Service / Location

The inpatient team is a close-knit team of allied health, nursing, and medical colleagues, based at Kenepuru Hospital. We are a team that loves to learn and upskill, and we encourage service improvements that help the patients and the team. A perk worth mentioning is the free parking available on site.
This role sits within the wider Kenepuru Inpatient Allied Health team which consists of over 35 Allied Health staff from Occupational Therapy, Dietetics, Speech Language Therapy, Psychology, Diversional Therapy, Physiotherapy, Social Work, and our Allied Health Assistants. Our AHAs are the backbone of our team, and we all work together closely to provide a service of high standard to patients and their families and whānau. We are a very supportive team; we provide training and learning opportunities, supervision, mentorship, and we celebrate our wins with food. It really is a warm and inviting space to work in.
We continue to grow in our cultural responsiveness as a team and a service, and we welcome anyone who is also on the journey to improve health equity outcomes for Māori and Pacific peoples to join us as we learn and improve together.
