Trainee Phlebotomist
Phlebotomists are trained and qualified to collect blood and handle human pathology samples. This role will be suitable for someone willing to serve the Auckland community and pursue a career in the medical field. In return, you will get full on-the-job training and educational support to study NZ Diploma in Applied Science while working with us.

Awanui Labs (Previously known as Labtests) has been providing pathology services to the Auckland community since August 2009. We recognize the importance of highly qualified staff, inspired leadership together with advanced information technology and automation to achieve service excellence.
Our Phlebotomists are fully trained to provide excellent customer service and high-quality care to our patients. This is a busy role, with our team processing up to 7,000 patient specimens over a day, working from our 56 collection rooms across Auckland.
About the Role | Ngā kōrero mō te tūranga
Two full-time roles available across the North Shore - we have collection centres from Devonport to Warkworth.
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8 hours shifts between 7 am to 7 pm and alternate Saturdays 8 am to 12 pm.
The key tasks include blood collection, responsible for handling contained specimens, i.e. human blood, feces, and tissue, and preparing specimens for transportation.
Provide professional customer service, and serve as a link between health professionals, their patients, and the laboratory.
Minimum Requirements
Previous Phlebotomy experience is
not essential
as long as you have:
A positive and friendly approach to your work and demonstrate cultural and social sensitivity.
Compassion for others, including a real desire to provide high-quality care to a wide variety of patients of all ages and circumstances.
Excellent customer service skills including a high level of personal presentation.
Strong attention to detail and an ability to follow processes accurately, even when under pressure.
A reliable transport and full Driver's license.
Eligibility to work in NZ.
