Job Description We are now looking for a Transport Manager who will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the entire JVT landside transportation and distribution process to ensure the efficient movement of goods from origin to destination.
This role involves strategic planning to align logistics operations with the company's long-term objectives, managing fleet operations, coordinating with drivers, and ensuring timely, cost-effective deliveries.
A key focus of this position includes problem-solving to address logistical challenges, leading various projects to enhance operational efficiency, such as route planning, load optimization, and vehicle maintenance scheduling.
The Transport Manager is also accountable for ensuring compliance with industry standards, transportation regulations, and driving change management initiatives to adapt to evolving market conditions and company goals.
This role is crucial in ensuring smooth, compliant, and cost-efficient trucking operations that contribute to the company's overall success.
Here is what you will be doing: Leading and managing the logistics and transportation team, including drivers, dispatchers, and the workshop.
Providing ongoing training and development for team members to ensure compliance with industry best practices and regulations.
Fostering a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging the team to identify and implement process improvements.
Managing performance, conducting evaluations, and providing feedback to the team to maintain high levels of productivity and morale.
Mentoring the Dispatch Team, providing guidance and support to ensure high performance and productivity.
Conducting regular performance evaluations on team members providing feedback for improvement.
Planning, managing, and coordinating the transport and delivery of goods across New Zealand, ensuring efficient, timely, and safe deliveries.
Developing and implementing cost-effective transportation strategies that optimize the use of resources, including vehicle fleets, drivers, and owner drivers.
Overseeing the scheduling, dispatching, and route planning to ensure on-time delivery and effective utilization of transport resources.
Monitoring and managing the performance of transport providers, including negotiating contracts, service agreements, and maintaining strong working relationships.
Managing fleet servicing and maintenance schedules to ensure continuity of services and safety, efficiency of vehicles.
Streamlining workflows and optimizing processes to improve operational efficiencies.
Preparing, analyzing, and presenting reports that highlight key insights, trends, and actionable recommendations.
Developing, managing, and monitoring transportation budgets, ensuring cost efficiency while maintaining high service quality.
Analyzing and reporting on transportation costs, identifying areas for savings and improvement.
Providing regular updates and reports to senior management on the financial performance of transportation operations.
