Our Hamilton Branch is looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Valve Technician to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for the refurbishment, overhaul, maintenance and testing of a wide range of valves including ball, gate, butterfly, control and safety relief valves. Your work will support diverse clients across petrochemical, industrial and energy sectors.
Key responsibilities include: Carry out valve refurbishments & overhauls
Repair and test various valves, including but not limited to ball valves, gate valves, butterfly valves, safety relief valves, etc.
Undertake Valve examinations, maintenance and repair
Perform disassembly, cleaning, inspection, measuring, reassembly and testing of valves.
Follow all schematics and documented procedures in accordance with all Quality Control and ASME National Board standards that apply to the job.
Thoroughly complete all calibration and documentation associated with testing and repairs.
Adhere to all safe working practices, look after yourself and those around you.
Qualifications
What You’ll Bring Trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Fitter & Turner
A keen interest in engineering with at 3+ years engineering experience
2+ years valve-specific work
A thorough understanding of API 526/527 standards
Must have knowledge of Valve maintenance including Block, Ball, Gate, Control and Relief valves
Mechanical understanding of tools, machinery and orifice measurements
Petrochemical industry experience (ideally 5+ years)
Knowledge of gasket assembly, bolting and compression
Current, clean NZ driver’s licence
NZ residency or valid NZ work visa
